Driver Sentenced Following Dangerous Road Incident in Bangkok
A motorist has been sentenced to two months in prison and fined 12,000 THB after a dangerous driving incident on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a man identified as Mr. Adisak has been sentenced to two months in prison and fined 12,000 THB following a reckless driving incident on August 30, 2026. The case originated from a viral video showing a white Toyota Fortuner speeding, changing lanes abruptly without signaling, and braking suddenly in front of other vehicles on the inbound Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, stretching from Don Mueang Airport to the Police Club.
Authorities from the Vibhavadi Police Station identified and arrested the driver, who confessed to the charges. Prosecutors subsequently filed the case with the Don Mueang District Court. Investigations into the driver’s history revealed that he was already serving a one-year suspended sentence for a previous drunk driving conviction from April 25, 2026. Because the new offense occurred during this probationary period, the court took his prior record into account.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the strict enforcement of traffic laws in Bangkok, particularly regarding aggressive driving behaviors captured on video. While the legal proceedings against the driver have concluded, it remains to be confirmed if the vehicle, which reports indicate had been repossessed by a finance company, will be subject to further civil litigation.
