Thailand Destroys 2 Billion Baht in Counterfeit Goods
Thai authorities have destroyed counterfeit goods worth 2 billion baht in a state-led operation to combat intellectual property violations.
On September 12, 2026, the Thai Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department, and the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), conducted a large-scale destruction ceremony for counterfeit goods. The event, held at the Air Defense Command in Don Mueang, Bangkok, involved the disposal of items related to intellectual property cases that have reached final legal conclusions.
Dr. Piyanuch Wuthisorn, Assistant to the Minister of Commerce, presided over the ceremony on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun. The operation was supported by Better World Green (BWG) and Akkhie Prakarn (AKP), who managed the destruction process to ensure environmental safety and zero toxic residue.
