TAT Projects 250,000 Chinese Tourists for Upcoming Golden Week
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) anticipates a significant surge in Chinese visitors during the October Golden Week holiday period.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) expects approximately 250,000 Chinese tourists to visit Thailand during the upcoming 13-day Golden Week holiday period in October. This projection represents a 24% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous period, with an estimated revenue generation of 11.5 billion baht, marking a 37% growth.
Data indicates that advance flight bookings have risen by over 16%. The primary source cities for these travelers include Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Chongqing.
For travelers and residents, this influx suggests that popular tourist destinations and major airports may experience higher congestion levels during the first half of October. Those planning travel or business activities in major hubs should anticipate increased demand for services and potential crowding at key attractions.
While these figures reflect the current outlook from the TAT, the final impact on tourism numbers remains subject to actual travel behavior and external factors during the holiday window. Travelers are encouraged to monitor local updates regarding transport and site accessibility as the dates approach.
