Man Arrested for Planting Drugs in Business Rival's Vehicle
A man in Chiang Rai has been arrested for framing his business rival's son by planting methamphetamine under his car, leading to the victim's wrongful two-month imprisonment.
On September 11, 2026, police in Mae Chan, Chiang Rai, arrested a man identified as 'Mr. A' on charges of framing an individual for a crime and illegal possession of Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine). According to Khaosod Online, the arrest follows a long-standing business dispute between Mr. A and the father of the victim, referred to as 'Mr. B.'
In 2021, Mr. B was driving back to Chiang Rai city from Mae Sai when he was stopped at the Kiew Thap Yang checkpoint. Authorities had received an anonymous tip claiming the vehicle contained drugs. Upon searching the car, officers discovered 400 methamphetamine pills hidden underneath. Mr. B was subsequently detained and spent over two months in prison before his innocence was proven. Following his release, Mr. B pursued legal action against Mr. A, leading to the current arrest.
