Georgia Family Discovers Pet Cat Survived After Paid Euthanasia
A Georgia family is seeking answers after learning their 19-year-old cat, Annie, was still alive 18 months after they paid a local veterinary clinic for euthanasia services.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, a family in Senoia, Georgia, experienced a distressing discovery regarding their 19-year-old cat, Annie. In February 2025, the owners brought the cat to a local veterinary clinic due to severe health issues, including arthritis, chronic pain, blood in her urine, and symptoms of feline dementia. Believing the cat was suffering, the family paid approximately $300 (roughly 10,000 Thai Baht) for euthanasia and cremation services.
Eighteen months later, the owner, Brian Jakt, was informed by a former clinic employee that Annie was still alive. Upon learning this, Jakt filed a police report. Subsequent investigations revealed that a staff member at the clinic had allegedly kept the cat instead of performing the requested procedure.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of transparency in veterinary care and the potential for administrative or ethical failures in clinical settings.
