Passing of Phra Phrom Wachiradilok, Senior Monk of Khon Kaen

According to a report by Khaosod Online, Phra Phrom Wachiradilok (Saman Sumetho), a highly respected senior monk in the Isan region, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026. He was 80 years old and had served in the monkhood for 60 years.

Phra Phrom Wachiradilok was the former abbot of Wat Pa Saeng Arun in the Phra Lap sub-district of Khon Kaen and served as a former advisor to the Ecclesiastical Regional Governor of Region 9 (Dhammayut). He was widely revered by the local community for his dedication to Buddhist practice and his role as a mentor to both clergy and laypeople. He died due to complications related to old age at the sterile quarters of Wat Pa Saeng Arun.

For residents and visitors in Khon Kaen, this passing marks the loss of a significant spiritual figure in the province. Wat Pa Saeng Arun remains a site of cultural and religious importance.
