Thai Revenue Department Clarifies e-Donation Status for Temples
The Revenue Department is coordinating with the National Office of Buddhism to ensure temples are integrated into the e-Donation system.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 11, 2026, the Thai Revenue Department has addressed public inquiries regarding whether prominent temples in Ayutthaya are currently registered within the e-Donation system.
Director-General Somsak Anantawat stated that the department is in constant communication with the National Office of Buddhism to manage the integration of religious sites into the digital platform. This year marks the first time the Revenue Department has mandated that public charitable organizations, including temples, utilize the e-Donation system to process contributions. Currently, there are over 46,000 religious sites already registered in the system nationwide.
For residents and travelers, this initiative is significant as it aims to standardize the documentation of charitable contributions, potentially simplifying the process for those seeking tax deductions for donations made to religious institutions.
While the department has confirmed the ongoing integration process, specific details regarding the status of individual temples in Ayutthaya remain subject to verification through the official e-Donation database. Those wishing to ensure their contributions are officially recorded for tax purposes should verify the temple's registration status directly through the Revenue Department’s official channels or the e-Donation portal.
