Korat Chamber of Commerce Addresses 2029 World Horticultural Expo Site Concerns

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Paijit Manasilp, President of the Nakhon Ratchasima Chamber of Commerce, has addressed public concerns regarding the site selection for the 2029 World Horticultural Expo. The Chamber maintains that it has consistently advocated for the Khong District to host the event, noting that significant preparatory work had already been completed.

Specifically, the Chamber highlighted that a master plan and terms of reference (TOR) were finalized in September 2025. Furthermore, infrastructure development, including a road expansion project valued at over 2 billion baht, was initiated to support the venue. However, the project has faced delays due to a recent administrative vacuum. The Chamber is now calling on the government to provide a clear explanation regarding the potential relocation of the event site away from the originally proposed district.

For residents and travelers, this situation is significant as it impacts regional infrastructure development and the potential economic boost associated with hosting an international event. While the Chamber of Commerce remains committed to the original site, the final decision rests with the government. It remains to be confirmed whether the government will proceed with the Khong District location or officially announce a new site, as the current status of the project remains uncertain.
