Former Security Guard Arrested for Theft at Wat Pho

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 11, 2026, local authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as Kitipong, for the theft of a wallet belonging to a South Korean tourist. The incident occurred at Wat Pho, one of Bangkok’s most prominent tourist landmarks.

Police officials, including Pol. Maj. Gen. Chaikrit Pho-a, reported that the suspect, a former security guard, noticed the tourist drop their wallet and subsequently took it. Officers from the Phra Ratchawang Police Station successfully apprehended the suspect before he could spend any of the stolen funds. Evidence recovered during the arrest included a black Vivienne Westwood wallet, South Korean identification cards, debit cards, and various Thai banknotes totaling several thousand baht.
