Thailand’s BOI Launches 'BOI to IPO' Initiative to Boost Capital Markets

The Board of Investment (BOI) has introduced a new strategic framework, including the 'BOI to IPO' measure, to encourage high-potential firms to list on the Thai stock market.

On September 11, 2026, the Board of Investment (BOI) announced a significant shift in its investment promotion strategy. Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the board approved the 'BOI to IPO' measure, designed to incentivize high-potential companies to enter the Thai capital market. Additionally, 17 new projects have been integrated into the 'Thailand FastPass' mechanism, representing a total investment value of over 121 billion baht.

According to BOI Secretary-General Narit Therdsteerasukdi, the new framework moves beyond measuring investment volume. Instead, the BOI will prioritize 'real value' creation, such as utilizing local raw materials, integrating Thai entrepreneurs into global supply chains, fostering high-skilled job creation, and promoting research and technology transfer. The agency intends to proactively support strategic industries while gradually reducing incentives for low-value-added sectors that no longer align with global demand or national interests.

For residents and expatriates, this shift suggests a potential strengthening of the local economy and a more robust stock market environment. However, the specific criteria for which industries will see reduced incentives and the long-term impact on the broader business landscape remain to be confirmed as the BOI begins implementing these new performance indicators.
