Thai SEC Aims to Accelerate IPO Process
The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand is testing a new sandbox initiative to reduce the IPO approval timeline to 70–100 days.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand is actively working to streamline its Initial Public Offering (IPO) review process. The regulator aims to reduce the current average processing time of 147 days down to a range of 70–100 days.
To achieve this, the SEC is launching a sandbox pilot program involving three companies, scheduled to run from October through December of this year. Deputy Secretary-General Sucha Bunyanet emphasized that this initiative is designed to facilitate the entry of new business models into the capital market. Furthermore, the SEC highlighted that traditional industries continue to demonstrate significant growth potential and remain reliable sources of dividend payments for investors.
For residents and expatriates interested in the Thai financial landscape, this move suggests a more dynamic and accessible stock market environment. A faster IPO process could lead to a broader variety of investment opportunities and increased market liquidity. However, it remains to be confirmed how the sandbox results will influence long-term regulatory policy and whether the 70–100 day target will be consistently met for all future applicants once the pilot concludes. Investors should monitor official SEC announcements for updates on the program's success and potential permanent implementation.
