GULF Selects Ban Huai Ta for Solar Power Initiative
Gulf Energy Development has chosen Ban Huai Ta in Uttaradit province for its 'GULF Sparks, Life Starts' project to provide solar energy to remote communities.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, Gulf Energy Development (GULF) has selected Ban Huai Ta, located in the Nang Phaya sub-district of Tha Pla, Uttaradit, as the latest beneficiary of its 'GULF Sparks, Life Starts' initiative. The community, situated on an island within the Sirikit Dam reservoir, consists of approximately 150 households and 300 residents who primarily rely on agriculture and freshwater fishing.
Under this project, GULF plans to install a solar power system equipped with battery storage at Ban Huai Ta Witthaya School. The company stated that this infrastructure aims to improve educational opportunities by enabling access to modern teaching media and computer connectivity. Furthermore, the initiative is intended to support the community’s access to clean water, which is expected to contribute to better health and long-term quality of life.
For residents and visitors, this development highlights ongoing efforts to bridge the infrastructure gap in Thailand’s remote areas. While the project focuses on educational and basic utility improvements, the specific timeline for the completion of the installation and the full operational capacity of the solar system remain to be confirmed by the company.
