Authorities have issued a warning for Nai Thon Beach in Phuket following reports of a tourist injured by a bluebottle jellyfish.
On September 11, 2026, officials from the Upper Andaman Marine and Coastal Resources Research Center inspected Nai Thon Beach in Phuket after reports surfaced online regarding a jellyfish sting. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, a 23-year-old foreign tourist required medical attention after coming into contact with a bluebottle jellyfish (Physalia sp.). The individual received initial first aid from lifeguards before being transported to a hospital, where they were treated and subsequently discharged.
During the inspection, officials noted that red flags were already flying at the beach due to strong winds and rough sea conditions. Lifeguards on-site collected samples of the jellyfish for further examination.
