Authorities Apprehend Suspects for Red Line Cable Theft
State Railway of Thailand officials and Taling Chan police have successfully arrested individuals involved in the theft of electrical cables along the Red Line commuter rail.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 11, 2026, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Taling Chan Police Station have collaborated to apprehend suspects responsible for cutting and stealing electrical cables from the Red Line commuter rail system.
Air Chief Marshal Kongsak Chantharasopa, acting president of SRT Electrified Train Co., Ltd., stated that the company has intensified security measures in coordination with local police along the entire rail route. This action follows frequent reports of cable theft that have threatened the integrity of the transit infrastructure. To address these security concerns, a dedicated subcommittee—chaired by Police Major General Amnat Traipot—has been established to oversee security, traffic, and public communication, ensuring proactive monitoring and ongoing cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
Following the recent arrests, led by Taling Chan police investigators under the direction of Police Colonel Monchai Aroonsongsaengdee, authorities are continuing their efforts to secure the rail corridor. For residents and commuters, this development is significant as it aims to prevent service disruptions caused by infrastructure damage. While the immediate suspects have been apprehended, it remains to be confirmed whether this group is linked to other similar incidents along the network or if further security upgrades will be implemented to prevent future occurrences.
