Anti-Junta Forces Strike Myanmar Airbase with Drones

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, anti-junta forces known as the People's Defence Force (PDF) conducted a drone strike on Taungoo Airport in Myanmar’s Mandalay region on September 10, 2026. The operation, which utilized FPV drones, reportedly damaged four military aircraft, with two sustaining total damage and two suffering minor impacts.

Following the incident, Myanmar Airways International (MAI) announced a temporary suspension of services at the airport on the morning of September 11, redirecting flights to Pyin Oo Lwin. Sources from the Karenni Army leadership noted that Taungoo Airport has been a primary base for airstrikes against the Karenni State since early 2025, which have resulted in casualties often treated at Khun Yuam Hospital in Thailand’s Mae Hong Son province.
