Krungthai Bank Launches AI-Powered Loan Programs for SMEs and Merchants
Krungthai Bank has introduced two new AI-driven loan initiatives aimed at improving financial accessibility for small businesses and individual vendors.
According to a report by Prachachat Business, Krungthai Bank has launched two new loan programs utilizing AI technology, branded as 'Nok Krasib' (Whispering Bird). These initiatives are designed to streamline access to capital for micro-SMEs and small-scale merchants.
For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the bank is offering loans with interest rates starting at 3.5% and a maximum credit limit of 3 million baht. Meanwhile, individual merchants and vendors can access a separate facility with a maximum limit of 500,000 baht, featuring a repayment plan starting at 500 baht per month.
For residents and expatriates operating businesses in Thailand, these programs may represent a significant shift in how local financial institutions leverage technology to assess creditworthiness and provide liquidity to smaller market players. By utilizing AI, the bank aims to simplify the application process and broaden financial inclusion.
While the bank has announced these terms, specific details regarding the full eligibility criteria, the required documentation for foreign business owners, and the exact AI assessment metrics remain to be confirmed. Interested parties should monitor official Krungthai Bank channels for updates on how these digital lending tools will be implemented in practice.
