Bangkok Accelerates Construction of Khlong Prem Prachakon Embankment
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration reports over 60% completion of the Khlong Prem Prachakon concrete embankment project, aiming to finalize construction as scheduled.
According to a report by Khaosod Online, Bangkok Permanent Secretary Narong Ruangsri has announced significant progress on the reinforced concrete embankment project along the Khlong Prem Prachakon canal. As of September 2026, the administration has successfully handed over 64.6% of the required construction area, covering 16,330 meters. Construction of the embankment itself is currently 60.84% complete, spanning 15,380 meters.
The project involves the removal of encroaching structures along the canal. To date, 2,450 out of 4,398 identified structures have been cleared. Notably, in the community behind the Ruam Phatthana flats, residents have consented to the removal of 145 households, with work already underway to clear the site for contractors.
For residents and travelers, this infrastructure project is intended to improve canal management and flood prevention in the area. While the project is moving forward, the timeline for the total removal of the remaining 1,948 encroaching structures and the final completion date for the entire canal stretch remain to be confirmed. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration continues to monitor the site to ensure the work proceeds according to the established goals.
