Airport Rail Link Operations Extended Through January 2027
The Ministry of Transport has confirmed that the private operator will continue managing the Airport Rail Link until January 31, 2027, as the State Railway of Thailand prepares for a potential transition.
On September 11, 2026, officials from the Ministry of Transport and the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) met with the Prime Minister to address ongoing operational concerns regarding the Airport Rail Link. According to Khaosod Online, Piyapong Jiwatkulpaisarn, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Chairman of the SRT Board, confirmed that the current private operator, Asia Era One Co., Ltd., has agreed to continue service until January 31, 2027.
This extension comes amid public concern regarding service quality and the status of the contract between the SRT and the private operator. The SRT is currently reviewing four conditions proposed by the private firm, though negotiations remain ongoing as some terms have yet to be finalized.
For residents and travelers, this development ensures that rail services to and from the airport will remain operational under the current management for the coming months. However, the long-term future of the service remains subject to further negotiations between the SRT and the private operator. The SRT has stated it is preparing to take over operations should the transition become necessary.
