State Railway of Thailand Discusses Airport Rail Link Operations
The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has confirmed that the current private operator will continue managing the Airport Rail Link until January 31, 2026, as officials explore a one-year extension.
On September 11, 2026, representatives from the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), including the board chairman and the governor, met with Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to address the ongoing management of the Airport Rail Link and the broader high-speed rail project connecting three major airports.
According to Prachachat Business, the SRT confirmed that the current private operator has committed to maintaining Airport Rail Link services until January 31, 2026. To ensure service continuity beyond this date, the SRT is considering a one-year contract extension for the operator at a proposed cost of 60 million baht per month. Deputy Prime Minister Anutin has instructed the SRT to prioritize legal compliance and ensure that the state does not suffer financial disadvantages during these negotiations.
For residents and travelers, this development is significant as it aims to prevent service disruptions on the vital rail link connecting Bangkok to Suvarnabhumi Airport. While the current operator is confirmed to remain in place until the end of January, the details of the proposed one-year contract and the long-term management strategy for the three-airport rail project remain subject to further official confirmation.
