Thai police have removed a controversial wooden table from Wat Phutthaisawan in Ayutthaya following requests from the temple committee.
On September 11, 2026, the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) removed a circular orange wooden table from Wat Phutthaisawan in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. According to a report by Khaosod Online, the temple committee requested the removal of the item, labeling it an 'inauspicious' object that should no longer remain on temple grounds.
The table gained notoriety due to allegations involving the former abbot and a woman identified as 'Sika Ae,' who reportedly used the furniture for illicit sexual activities. The committee deemed these actions highly inappropriate for a royal monastery and requested that the police store the table at the CSD headquarters (Sub-division 1) temporarily.
For residents and visitors, this incident highlights the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the former abbot, known as 'Sami Chot,' who is also under investigation for the discovery of over 100 million baht in cash and gold bars hidden within his living quarters.
