As of September 10, 2026, Thai energy authorities have entered their second day of intensive operations to identify the origin of an oil leak discovered in the drainage systems near Chuea Phloeng Road and the Rama III Bridge area. Thitipat Chotidechachainan, secretary to the Minister of Energy, confirmed that teams are operating 24 hours a day, utilizing heavy machinery and specialized technology to excavate soil and trace the source of the contamination.
During recent excavations, officials identified water mixed with oil flowing from old drainage pipes, prompting further drilling in adjacent areas to pinpoint the exact leak site. Minister of Energy Eknat Prompan has prioritized the situation, ordering a comprehensive inspection of all high-risk points in the vicinity.
While the exact cause remains under investigation, officials are currently evaluating several potential factors that may have compromised the pipeline structure. These include the proximity of the pipeline to railway tracks, recent park renovations, and various construction projects in the surrounding area.
