High Demand for 'Aom Plus' Government Bonds
The second issuance of Thailand's 'Aom Plus' government bonds has seen significant investor interest, with subscription requests far exceeding the initial offering limit.
According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 10, 2026, the second round of the 'Aom Plus' government bond issuance has experienced a surge in popularity. The offering, which was made available through the Bond Connect and Streaming platforms, was initially capped at a total value of 2 billion baht.
However, investor response was notably high, with total subscription requests reaching 6,565.81 million baht. This demand was driven by 13,705 individual investors, resulting in a total of 17,204 transaction entries. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) facilitated the process, highlighting a strong appetite for these government-backed financial instruments among the public.
For residents and expatriates in Thailand, this high subscription rate reflects a robust interest in local fixed-income investment opportunities. While this does not directly impact daily tourism or travel logistics, it serves as an indicator of current domestic financial sentiment and the active participation of the public in state-backed savings programs.
It remains to be confirmed how the government will address the excess demand, specifically whether the total issuance limit will be increased to accommodate the surplus of subscription requests or if the allocation process will be adjusted for those who were unable to secure their desired amount during this initial phase.
