Thailand’s Ministry of Transport to Launch Super App for Chao Phraya River Piers
The Ministry of Transport is developing a new digital platform to integrate data across 29 Chao Phraya River piers, aiming to modernize water transport safety and convenience.
According to Khaosod Online, Thailand’s Ministry of Transport and the Marine Department are advancing a project to modernize water travel along the Chao Phraya River. Deputy Minister of Transport Sanphet Bunyamanee announced that the initiative includes the development of a 'Super App' designed to centralize data regarding boat traffic, passenger information, weather conditions, and emergency response systems.
This digital integration will cover 29 key piers stretching from Pak Kret to Sathorn. The project aims to enhance the overall safety and convenience of river transport for both residents and travelers. To date, the Marine Department has completed renovations on 11 piers, including major hubs like Sathorn, Tha Chang, and Nonthaburi, with a total investment of 297.76 million baht. An additional five piers are scheduled for upgrades in 2025, with a budget of 177.5362 million baht, including the Pak Kret and Rama VII piers.
For commuters and tourists, this development suggests a future of more reliable and technologically integrated river travel. However, specific details regarding the official launch date of the Super App and the full timeline for the remaining 13 piers have yet to be confirmed by the authorities.
