Thai Chamber of Commerce Forecasts Economic Growth and Tourism Recovery for 2027

The Thai Chamber of Commerce projects 2-3% GDP growth for 2027, driven by high-tech exports and a tourism rebound to 35 million arrivals.

According to a report by Khaosod Online, the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) has released its economic outlook for 2027, forecasting a GDP growth rate of 2-3%. Thanavath Phonvichai, President of the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, attributed this potential growth to sustained foreign investment in the EV and AI sectors, primarily from China and Singapore, which is helping to shift Thailand’s export structure toward high-tech goods.

For travelers and residents, the tourism sector is a key highlight of this forecast. The TCC expects a significant recovery, with international arrivals projected to reach between 32 and 35 million people. This influx is anticipated to generate between 1.6 and 1.69 trillion baht in revenue, bolstered by the return of Chinese tourists. Additionally, the report notes that the Bank of Thailand is preparing measures to support SME credit access, which may improve the local business environment.

While these projections offer an optimistic outlook for the country's economic and tourism landscape, they remain forecasts based on current investment trends and market conditions. Factors such as global oil prices, which are expected to hover around 80-85 USD per barrel, and the actual implementation of the proposed SME financial support mechanisms will be critical in determining whether these targets are met by 2027.
