Thailand Issues Landslide and Flash Flood Warning for 10 Provinces
The Department of Mineral Resources has identified 10 provinces at high risk for landslides and flash floods following heavy rainfall warnings.
On September 10, 2026, the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) issued an urgent advisory for residents and travelers in 10 provinces to remain vigilant against potential landslides and flash floods. The warning follows continuous heavy rainfall and meteorological forecasts indicating that high-risk areas may experience soil instability.
The provinces identified as being at risk are Tak, Lampang, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Nayak, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Prachin Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Ranong. According to the DMR, these regions are currently experiencing significant precipitation, which increases the likelihood of geological hazards.
Simultaneously, the Thai Meteorological Department has reported that heavy rain is expected to persist across various regions, including the western part of the North, the lower Northeast, the Central region, the East, and the Bangkok metropolitan area. This weather pattern is attributed to a cold air mass moving into the upper North and Northeast, causing the monsoon trough to shift over the lower North, upper Central, and Northeast regions.
