According to a report by Khaosod Online, the National Health Security Office (NHSO) of Thailand has introduced the 'Cancer Anywhere' (Cancer Anywhere) policy to improve the treatment experience for patients covered under the gold card scheme. Historically, cancer patients faced significant hurdles, including long wait times and complicated referral procedures that often caused distress and delays in care.

This policy allows eligible patients to seek treatment at any medical facility equipped to handle their specific cancer care needs, bypassing the traditional, cumbersome referral system. The initiative aims to reduce the anxiety and confusion often associated with a cancer diagnosis by providing more direct access to medical professionals. The report highlights the experience of a 56-year-old patient, Mrs. Paiboon Seerak, who received treatment at the Lopburi Cancer Hospital after an initial diagnosis at a private facility. Her experience underscores the policy's goal of replacing fear with reassurance.
