TAT Launches 'THAI T’REASURES' to Promote Fashion Tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is hosting a new event at ICONSIAM to integrate local cultural heritage into contemporary fashion.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the launch of the "THAI T’REASURES by Amazing Thailand" project, scheduled to take place from September 18 to 20, 2026, at the River Park of ICONSIAM shopping center. According to Khaosod Online, the initiative aims to elevate Thai cultural assets—specifically textiles, jewelry, handicrafts, and local wisdom—into contemporary fashion designs suitable for everyday wear.
This project involves a collaboration between the TAT, the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand, various designers, artists, students, and local textile producers. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that the goal is to transform traditional Thai craftsmanship into a modern "Thai-cool" fashion identity that appeals to younger generations and creates sustainable income for local communities. By positioning Thailand as a global destination for "Fashion Tourism," the TAT hopes to offer travelers a unique experience that connects them with the stories and identities of local regions.
For travelers and residents, this event offers a chance to see how traditional Thai materials are being reimagined for the global stage. While the event dates and the core concept of promoting local heritage through fashion are confirmed, the specific schedule of runway shows or individual designer showcases remains to be detailed by the organizers.
