Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Audits City Data Centers
Bangkok officials are conducting a comprehensive survey of data centers across the city, with a formal report expected on September 11, 2026.
On September 10, 2026, Pornphrom Vikitsreth, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, announced that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is currently auditing all data centers located within the capital. This initiative follows a directive from the Data Center Policy Committee meeting held on September 4, 2026, which aims to address the management and potential urban impacts of these large-scale storage facilities.
According to Khaosod Online, preliminary data collected by the BMA and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has identified 49 data centers in Bangkok. Of these, six are standalone buildings that have already received proper authorization from the city, while the remaining 43 are integrated into existing structures.
For residents and visitors, this audit is significant as it reflects the government's effort to regulate the infrastructure supporting the city's digital growth.
