Major Fire Engulfs Mattress Factory in Bang Sai, Ayutthaya
A massive fire broke out at a rubber mattress and pillow factory in Bang Sai, Ayutthaya, on the night of September 9, 2026, requiring over three hours to bring under control.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a significant fire occurred at a manufacturing facility in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, late on the evening of September 9, 2026. The incident was reported to local police at approximately 10:00 PM. The factory, which spans an area of roughly 30 rai (approximately 12 acres), produces and stores highly flammable materials, including latex, foam, and fabric.
Emergency responders from Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya and neighboring provinces were deployed to the scene. The fire caused the warehouse structure to collapse and generated large plumes of black smoke visible from a distance. Firefighters focused their efforts on preventing the blaze from spreading to a nearby residential community located behind the factory. After more than three hours of intensive operations, authorities successfully contained the fire, though some smoldering remained in a central warehouse area used for storing production chemicals.
For residents and travelers in the area, the incident highlights potential air quality concerns due to the combustion of industrial materials. While the fire has been contained, the structural integrity of the site and the environmental impact of the chemical storage area remain to be confirmed by local authorities.
