Police Standoff in Bang Lamung Following Fatal Shooting
A police officer remains barricaded in his home in Chon Buri after allegedly killing his wife, with authorities currently managing the ongoing standoff.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, a tense standoff is currently underway in the Nong Pla Lai sub-district of Bang Lamung, Chon Buri. Police Lieutenant Tassapong, a deputy inspector at Bang Lamung Police Station, is reportedly barricaded inside his home following the fatal shooting of his wife, who was a teacher at a local kindergarten.
On the evening of September 9, 2026, the suspect’s son, Police Corporal Rachata, arrived from southern Thailand to assist in negotiations. For approximately 30 minutes, the son tearfully pleaded with his father through a window, urging him to surrender and assuring him of his safety. Despite these efforts, there was no response from inside the residence. Authorities subsequently moved the son to a safe location and continue to maintain a strict perimeter around the property.
For residents and visitors in the area, this incident has resulted in a significant police presence and potential traffic disruptions near the scene.
