Chachoengsao Authorities Issue 30-Day Deadline for Jewish Cemetery Structures
Local officials in Chachoengsao have ordered the removal of unauthorized structures at a Jewish cemetery, imposing daily fines for non-compliance while monitoring the site for environmental and safety concerns.
On September 9, 2026, officials from the Samet Tai Subdistrict Administrative Organization (SAO) in Bang Khla District, Chachoengsao, initiated enforcement actions regarding the 'Jewish Cemetery Thailand' site. According to Khaosod Online, authorities have posted official notices at the cemetery entrance, including orders to cease building use, mandates for the demolition of unauthorized structures, and requirements for legal compliance.
Failure to comply with these orders within 30 days will result in a daily fine of 30,000 THB. To ensure enforcement and public safety, the SAO is installing CCTV cameras at two locations around the site. Additionally, the Chachoengsao Office of Natural Resources and Environment has collected water samples from the surrounding area to test for potential contamination, with results expected within 30 days.
For residents and visitors, the site is currently marked with red-and-white caution tape, and multiple legal notices are displayed at the entrance and along the roadside. While these measures are intended to address regulatory and environmental concerns, the situation remains fluid. It is not yet confirmed how the site management will respond to the demolition order or what the specific findings of the water quality tests will reveal. Travelers are advised to respect the cordoned-off areas and observe local signage if passing through the vicinity.
