Government Intervenes to Resolve Long-standing Conflict Between Uthenthawai and Pathumwan Institutes

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Yoschanan Wongsawat, has announced a new resolution to address the persistent violent conflicts between students from Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok (Uthenthawai Campus) and Pathumwan Institute of Technology. Following discussions with the rectors of both institutions, Chulalongkorn University representatives, and the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, a preliminary agreement has been reached to suspend the use of both campuses for at least three months.

During this suspension, both institutions are required to adjust their teaching formats to ensure student education remains uninterrupted. Furthermore, the government is accelerating plans for the relocation of these campuses to prevent future territorial disputes. Regarding the Uthenthawai site, Chulalongkorn University has committed to repurposing the land as an innovation space for public use rather than for commercial development.

For residents and visitors, this development is significant as it aims to improve public safety and restore the national image, which has been impacted by recurring student violence. The government emphasizes that this initiative builds upon previous agreements, focusing on legal, security, and safety frameworks to ensure concrete results.
