Oil Leak Identified on Rama 3 Road; Cleanup and Compensation Ordered
Energy Minister Ekkanat Promphan has confirmed the source of an oil leak near the Rama 3-Chuea Phloeng intersection and ordered two pipeline operators to conduct repairs and provide compensation.
On September 9, 2026, Thailand’s Minister of Energy, Ekkanat Promphan, conducted an on-site inspection following reports of oil contamination within the drainage system near the Chuea Phloeng Road area, located beneath the Rama 3 elevated bridge at the border of the Khlong Toei and Yan Nawa districts in Bangkok. According to Khaosod Online, authorities successfully located the specific point of the leak during the inspection.
Minister Ekkanat has formally directed two entities—BAFS Pipeline Transportation Co., Ltd. and Bangkok Aviation Fuel Services Pipeline and Logistics Co., Ltd.—to take immediate responsibility for the repair and restoration of the affected area. Beyond the technical cleanup, the Minister has mandated that these companies provide full compensation for any damages resulting from the incident. The Ministry of Energy is currently monitoring the situation to ensure that the restoration process is completed and to prevent further environmental impact.
