On September 9, 2026, the Khlong Toei Fire and Rescue Station reported an ongoing operation to manage fire risks caused by oil leaking into the drainage system near Chuea Phloeng Road and the Rama III elevated bridge, located at the border of the Khlong Toei and Yan Nawa districts in Bangkok.
According to Khaosod Online, emergency teams are maintaining a 24-hour presence at the site, equipped with fire trucks and specialized foam to prevent potential ignition. Access to the area is strictly controlled to ensure public safety. Officials are monitoring the concentration of flammable vapors (LEL) in the air; if levels reach 15-20%, additional risk-reduction measures will be triggered immediately.
For residents and travelers in the area, this situation necessitates caution due to the risk of fire. Authorities, led by Suparoek Sapsiri, Director of Fire and Rescue Operations Division 2, have begun excavating the ground to inspect the pipeline route and identify the source of the leak. While the immediate area is under strict surveillance, the exact cause of the pipeline failure and the duration of the repair work remain to be confirmed. Commuters are advised to follow local traffic instructions and avoid the immediate vicinity of the inspection site until further notice.
