CKPower Expands Solar Energy Integration for Bangkok’s Transit System

According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand on September 9, 2026, CKPower has officially commenced commercial operations for a new solar power project. This initiative, developed in partnership with Bangkok Expressway and Metro (BEM), adds 5 megawatts of renewable energy capacity to the company’s portfolio.

For residents and frequent commuters in Bangkok, this development signifies a strategic shift toward integrating clean energy into the city’s vital transportation and infrastructure networks. By utilizing solar power to support the operations of the transit system, the project aims to enhance the sustainability of daily travel. Additionally, CKPower reported positive performance in the first half of 2026, noting that water flow at the Xayaburi Hydroelectric Power Plant was 17.7% higher than the previous year, leading to an 11.2% increase in electricity sales. The company expects favorable water conditions to continue supporting hydroelectric production throughout the remainder of the year.

While the 5-megawatt solar expansion is now operational, the long-term impact on transit electricity costs and the specific scope of future renewable energy integration across the entire BEM network remain to be confirmed.
