Lamphun Launches Free Electric Bus Service
Lamphun province has introduced a new electric bus service, offering free transportation to residents and visitors for the next six months.
On September 9, 2026, Lamphun provincial authorities, led by Governor Piyapong Chuwong, officially launched the 'LAMPHUN EV BUS' service. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, this initiative aims to provide a sustainable and convenient public transportation alternative, connecting key locations within the city of Lamphun.
The electric buses operate daily from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. To enhance accessibility and convenience, the vehicles are equipped with wheelchair ramps for passengers with disabilities and provide onboard Wi-Fi. Furthermore, users can track the real-time location of the buses, facilitating easier travel planning.
For residents and travelers, this service represents a significant step toward promoting a cleaner, more environmentally friendly urban environment. The buses have been available for public use free of charge since September 8, 2026, with the complimentary period scheduled to last for six months.
