The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has introduced a three-pronged strategy to balance traditional automotive manufacturing with the shift toward new technologies.
According to a report by Khaosod Online Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) is prioritizing a balanced transition for the nation's automotive sector. FTI Chairperson Pimjai Leeissaranukul emphasized that Thailand’s automotive industry, built over decades, remains a critical economic pillar involving numerous manufacturers, SMEs, and supply chain networks.
The FTI’s strategy focuses on maintaining the strength of existing production bases—particularly pickup truck manufacturing, which utilizes 80-90% local content—while simultaneously integrating future automotive technologies. The core objective is to ensure that local entrepreneurs can adapt and remain integrated into the evolving global supply chain rather than choosing between old and new technologies.
For residents and travelers, this transition is significant as the automotive sector is a major driver of employment and economic stability in Thailand.
