Pollution Control Department Investigates Illegal Waste Dumping at Ban Chang Data Center Site

According to a report by Prachachat Business, Thailand’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Suchart Chomklin, has dispatched a special task force from the Pollution Control Department (PCD) to the Ban Chang sub-district in Rayong province. The investigation follows reports of illegal waste dumping linked to a local Data Center construction project.

Initial inspections by the task force identified approximately 20 tons of construction debris discarded at the site. In response to the findings, the Ministry has issued a formal directive requiring the responsible parties to clear and remove the waste within a seven-day timeframe.

For residents and visitors in the Ban Chang area, this incident highlights ongoing efforts by environmental authorities to monitor industrial waste management practices near large-scale infrastructure developments. While the immediate cleanup order addresses the current accumulation of debris, the investigation into the origin of the waste and potential environmental impacts remains ongoing.
