Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University Establishes Thailand's First Rajabhat Faculty of Sports and Health Science
Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University has launched a dedicated Faculty of Sports and Health Science at its Nakhon Pathom campus, marking a first among Rajabhat universities.
According to Khaosod Online Thailand, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University has officially established a new 'Faculty of Sports and Health Science' at its Nakhon Pathom campus. This development makes it the first institution within the Rajabhat university system to create a specialized faculty focused on this field. The initiative, led by University President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutikarn Sriviboon, aims to advance knowledge in sports science, physical and mental well-being, and health technology to meet the growing demands of the sports and wellness industry.
The establishment process concluded with approval from the University Council on August 26, 2026, following earlier endorsements from the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Academic Council in August. On September 1, 2026, Asst. Prof. Dr. Suriyan Sompong was appointed as the acting dean to oversee the faculty's foundational phase.
For residents and visitors, this development signals a potential increase in local sports research, professional training, and health-related services in the Nakhon Pathom area. The faculty intends to serve as a hub for academic research and public health services. While the administrative structure is now in place, details regarding specific public-facing programs, community health initiatives, or future enrollment opportunities for international students remain to be confirmed as the faculty begins its operations.
