Ang Thong Technical College Launches Thailand’s First Underwater Welding Course
Ang Thong Technical College has introduced the nation's first vocational training program for underwater welding to address labor shortages and provide high-income career paths.
On September 9, 2026, Ang Thong Technical College officially launched Thailand’s first specialized vocational curriculum for underwater welding. According to Khaosod Online, the program aims to equip students with high-level technical skills to meet the growing demand for specialized labor in both domestic and international industrial sectors.
Dr. Paitoon Sangsawat, Director of Ang Thong Technical College, stated that the curriculum provides students at the vocational diploma level with both theoretical knowledge and systematic practical training in diving and underwater welding techniques. The initiative was recently highlighted during a visit by Tassanai Suthapoj, Deputy Governor of Ang Thong, who observed the practical training sessions led by department head Pramote Jamornniem.
For residents and expatriates, this development signals a shift in Thailand’s vocational education landscape, potentially creating a new pool of highly skilled local professionals for maritime and industrial projects.
