Opposition MP Challenges Ministry of Interior Budget Proposals

During the third day of the House of Representatives' debate on the 2027 fiscal budget, People's Party MP Kanpong Prayoonsak raised significant concerns regarding the Ministry of Interior’s proposed 226.9 billion baht allocation. Speaking at the Parliament on September 9, 2026, Kanpong highlighted discrepancies in procurement costs, noting that several items were priced significantly higher than market estimates.

One specific example cited was a housing project for 12 officials, where the budget for piping was calculated to be as long as a 20-story building, exceeding the height of the Parliament complex itself. Furthermore, the MP proposed a 47-million-baht cut to a project involving a guest registration data system, alleging a lack of transparency in the ministry's procurement processes.
