According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 9, 2026, Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has instructed Watcharaphol Prasarnrajkit to oversee the Department of Fisheries in strictly adhering to a recent Central Administrative Court judgment. The directive mandates that the department develop and implement a comprehensive action plan to effectively control and mitigate the spread of the invasive blackchin tilapia within a 180-day timeframe.
In response, the Department of Fisheries is circulating instructions to all relevant units to intensify the execution of seven established measures. Official data indicates that over 10.68 million kilograms of the species have already been removed from affected areas.
