Electric Vehicle Emits Smoke at Pathum Thani Market
An electric vehicle owner reported smoke billowing from the battery area while parked at a market in Pathum Thani, prompting an emergency response.
On the morning of September 9, 2026, emergency services in Pathum Thani’s Lam Luk Ka district responded to a report of a smoking electric vehicle at a market parking lot. According to Khaosod Online Thailand, the owner, identified as Mr. Bancha, had parked his vehicle to purchase food when he discovered thick smoke emerging from the undercarriage and rear of the car, where the battery is located.
Mr. Bancha stated that he had fully charged the vehicle before leaving his home nearby. He noted that he had observed a battery-related warning symbol on the dashboard earlier and had intended to visit a service center at 8:00 AM for an inspection before traveling to Bangkok. Upon returning from the market, he found the vehicle emitting smoke. Firefighters from Lam Sam Kaeo and Khu Khot municipalities arrived at the scene and used water to manage the situation. While no open flames were reported at the time of the intervention, the smoke continued to emanate from the vehicle.
For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of addressing dashboard warning lights immediately, particularly regarding battery systems in electric vehicles. The exact cause of the smoke and the specific condition of the battery pack remain to be confirmed by technical experts. Authorities have not yet released a formal report on the mechanical failure.
