Stock Exchange of Thailand Eases IPO Rules to Attract New Economy Firms

The Stock Exchange of Thailand is relaxing listing requirements to encourage companies in 10 emerging global industries to go public.

According to a report by Prachachat Business on September 9, 2026, the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is implementing significant changes to its listing criteria. The initiative aims to attract businesses within 10 new global industries by lowering traditional requirements related to market capitalization, core revenue, and profitability.

Furthermore, the exchange is introducing a 'special channel' for companies that have received support from the Board of Investment (BOI) or operate within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). This pathway specifically allows businesses that are not yet profitable to list on the exchange, signaling a strategic shift toward fostering a 'New Economy' ecosystem.

For residents and expatriates, these changes may signal a broader diversification of the Thai investment landscape, potentially leading to more tech-focused or innovative companies appearing on the local market. While this move is intended to stimulate capital market growth, it remains to be confirmed how these relaxed standards will impact long-term market stability and investor protection. Potential investors should monitor how these new listings perform once the updated regulations are fully integrated into the exchange's operations.
