Department of Women’s Affairs Holds Workshop on State Funeral Welfare Management
The Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development recently convened a workshop to enhance the management of state funeral welfare systems, which currently support 3.5 million members.
On September 3, 2026, the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development (DWF) hosted a workshop in Bangkok focused on improving the operational capacity of state funeral welfare programs. According to Khaosod Online, DWF Director-General Jatuporn Rojanapanich presided over the event, which brought together officials and administrators responsible for managing these non-profit support systems.
State funeral welfare serves as a mutual aid mechanism designed to assist families with funeral arrangements and financial support upon the death of a member. As of December 31, 2025, the DWF oversees 80 registered funeral welfare organizations, comprising 46 government agencies, 24 state enterprises, and 10 other public entities. These organizations collectively serve approximately 3.5 million members and reported a combined financial balance of over 2.43 billion baht at the end of 2025.

While these specific funeral welfare programs are primarily structured for government and state enterprise personnel, the workshop underscores the government's ongoing focus on transparency and governance within its social safety nets.
