Department of Women’s Affairs Holds Workshop on State Funeral Assistance Operations
The Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development recently convened a workshop to enhance the management of state funeral assistance programs, which currently serve 3.5 million members.
On September 3, 2026, the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development (DWF) hosted a workshop at the Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok to improve the operational capacity of state funeral assistance programs. Chaired by DWF Director-General Jatuporn Rojanapanich, the event brought together government officials and administrators responsible for managing these non-profit welfare systems.
According to Khaosod Online, the DWF currently oversees 80 registered funeral assistance units, comprising 46 government agencies, 24 state enterprises, and 10 other public entities. These programs provide mutual aid for funeral arrangements and family support upon the death of a member. As of December 31, 2025, these units reported a combined financial balance of over 2.43 billion baht, supporting approximately 3.5 million members nationwide.
For residents and expatriates, this news highlights the scale of state-managed welfare systems in Thailand. While these programs are primarily internal to the public sector, the emphasis on transparency and strict legal compliance is intended to ensure the stability of these large-scale financial resources.
