Police Charge Driver After Wrong-Way Incident on Vibhavadi Road

According to a report by Khaosod Online, Thai police have initiated legal action against a woman identified as 'Mrs. Da' following a viral dashcam video showing a white Mercedes-Benz driving against traffic for nearly one kilometer on the main lane of Vibhavadi Road, near the Lat Phrao intersection.

Following an investigation of CCTV footage, the driver reported to the Vibhavadi Police Station on September 8, 2026. She faced three specific charges: reckless driving, violating road surface traffic markings, and driving against the legally designated direction. After a two-hour interrogation and the payment of fines, the driver and her daughter departed without providing public comments.

For residents and travelers, this incident highlights the importance of vigilance on major Bangkok thoroughfares, where traffic violations can pose significant safety risks. While the driver has been processed by police, the case is now moving to the Phra Nakhon Nuea District Court. It remains to be confirmed whether the court will order the seizure of the vehicle involved in the incident.
