Thailand Launches 'Thai Helps Thai' 9.9 E-commerce Campaign

The Ministry of Commerce has introduced a major 9.9 shopping initiative to support local SMEs, offering significant discounts and shipping incentives.

According to Khaosod Online, the Department of Business Development (DBD) under the Ministry of Commerce has launched the 'Thai Helps Thai' online shopping campaign to coincide with the 9.9 sales event. Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, Director-General of the DBD, stated that the initiative aims to bolster small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which currently contribute 35% to the national economy. The Ministry has set a target to increase this contribution to 40% to ensure more equitable income distribution.

The campaign features over 2,000 local producers, community enterprises, and SMEs from across Thailand. Consumers can access discounts of up to 60%, capped at 4,000 baht per order, alongside free shipping coupons provided through partnerships with two Thai e-commerce platforms that have waived certain sales fees.

For residents and visitors, this event offers a unique opportunity to purchase authentic local goods at reduced prices while supporting the domestic economy. The initiative is part of a broader policy directed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Supajee Suthumpun. While the campaign is currently active, details regarding the specific duration of these promotional offers and the exact list of participating platforms remain subject to the terms provided by the Ministry and its e-commerce partners.
