Cyber Police Arrest Teenager Linked to Computer Equipment Scam
Thai authorities have apprehended an 18-year-old man accused of acting as a 'mule' for a fraudulent online computer parts store.
On September 8, 2026, Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) officers arrested an 18-year-old suspect, identified as Tanachot, following an investigation into a series of online scams. According to Khaosod Online, the suspect was apprehended under an arrest warrant issued by the Criminal Court on August 28, 2026.
Authorities allege that since March 2026, the suspect operated a Facebook page under the name “Tanachot Apinet,” which purported to sell computer components. Multiple students and individuals reported transferring payments for goods that were never delivered, resulting in total losses amounting to hundreds of thousands of baht. Investigators determined that the suspect acted as a 'money mule,' receiving funds from victims into his personal account. The suspect reportedly confessed to the police that he became involved in the scheme after returning from working at a gambling website in Poipet and failing to secure legitimate employment online.
