Cook Vegetable Oil Launches Organic Waste Innovation Center in Samut Prakan
Thanakorn Vegetable Oil, the maker of Cook brand, has inaugurated an organic waste management facility at Khlong Na Kluea Noi School to promote circular economy practices.
On August 17, 2026, Thanakorn Vegetable Oil Co., Ltd., the manufacturer of 'Cook' vegetable oil, officially opened an 'Organic Waste Value Creation Innovation Center' at Khlong Na Kluea Noi (Klin Upatham) School in Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan Province. According to Khaosod Online, the project is a collaborative effort involving the local sub-district administrative organization, the Samut Prakan Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, and the organization Butter Fly.
The facility serves as an educational hub for schools and the local community, focusing on organic waste management through the use of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae. During the launch, experts from the social enterprise Canna Flower Co., Ltd. provided training on BSF waste processing, while students from Wat Khae School shared insights from their own BSF project. Attendees were given a tour of the facility to observe the breeding and propagation processes of the larvae.
For residents and visitors, this initiative highlights a growing trend in Thailand toward localized circular economy models and sustainable waste management. By turning organic waste into a resource, the project aims to foster community-level sustainability. While the facility is now operational as a learning center, it remains to be seen how these community-led waste management models will be scaled or integrated into broader municipal waste policies across the province.
